The Sherenades

When Lymmdale suddenly folded in 1978, because without warning the leader gave up, the existing dancers begged Pauline Doorbar (nee Ratcliffe) to help them, and although Pauline had children now, she said she would step in "if they could show that they had 20 girls willing to take part."

They came back straight away with 24 names and Pauline formed her own troupe "The Sherenades" in 1978.

Pauline ran this troupe until 1985 and about 2 years later The Sherenades moved it's base to Urmston, where they are still based now (1997).

In 1986 one of the Sherenades dancers moved to the Isle of Man and she formed the first troupe on the island. There are now two Manx troupes.

At one time Pauline became involved in making uniforms for the dancers when an emergency situation arose, and since then she was called on to make many costumes for many troupes, including "Broadheath" and a troupe in Oldham.
