Thelwall Morris is a mixed morris dancing team, based in the village of Thelwall, Warrington. We dance traditional Cotswold Morris dances with a couple of our own thrown in.
Thelwall Morris started in 1973 as an all male team but, after 50 years of dancing, and gradual reduction in team size, things had to change to preserve the future of Morris Dancing in Thelwall. At the 2023 AGM, it was resolved to become a mixed morris team and become just Thelwall Morris..
During the Summer months we dance out at venues around Warrington (e.g. Lymm,
Stockton Heath, Culcheth, Croft) and at some local village events such as
Thelwall Rose Queen and Croft Carnival.
We also occasionally have weekends away at other Morris events and been known to
go overseas.
We practice at Thelwall Parish Hall, Bell Lane, WA4 2SX [Map, Aerial view] on Wednesdays from 20.00 unless Dancing out (see programme), Public Holidays or Whitby week intrude.
Health Warning - Morris is good for you
Morris dancing requires a certain degree of fitness, which will be acquired and/or improved upon, as the dances can be vigorous.
If you are interested or even just vaguely interested contact the
team: info at thelwallmorris.org.uk or come down to a practice at Thelwall Parish
Hall on Wednesdays - dates and times may vary so check the programme
in advance.
The web site is full of information about the team's history (short or long) with much more information available from the home page.
